Asana only opens PDF and images. Make it open Word, Excel, PPTX at bare minimum. Having to save a file attached to Asana in order to read it is..well…lame. Very inefficient. Makes people avoid asana and go to email, Teams, etc.
Hi @anon1023263 , I agree this would be great but for what it’s worth, this issue only applies when files are uploaded directly from devices.
MS Office / 365 files will actually open if they are attached in Asana directly from SharePoint/OneDrive.
I would say that, even though some Asana experts recommend storing files in SharePoint or Google Drive to review them online, a native Asana feature to view files directly within the platform is almost a must-have.
This is especially relevant since one of Asana’s strongest competitors, Wrike, includes this functionality across all its bundles at no additional cost. It is simply a native feature that allows people working on a project to review Word, PowerPoint, and even Excel files attached to a task or project without leaving the platform… EVEN WITHOUT LEAVING THE TASK!!!
Leaving this unaddressed is one of Asana’s weakest points. I hope the team recognizes the relevance of this type of functionality.
