Hello, is there a way for the email fields that has the email link for it to also add the task name as the subject line to the email when it opens into the email client?
Welcome, @peter21,
It’s not clear what part of Asana you’re using. GMail add-in? Outlook add-in? Rules? Forwarding?
Can you add more detail, and perhaps clear screenshots?
Thanks,
Larry
Sorry, @peter21, I’m just not following your workflow–where it starts, and what you’re trying to accomplish, and perhaps context/why.
Maybe someone else understands and can reply.
Thanks,
Larry
I think I’m maybe getting the gist of the the request here. But @peter21 , how is the Email custom field getting populated - are you manually typing in an email address, or it’s filled in via a rule, or ?? And when it is getting populated - when the task is created, or ??
Thank you. I manually put in the email addresses as I create a task, the field is labeled as an email address so after I type in the email address asana already knows that it’s an email and it populates a “email link” that opens in my email client as a new email with the address completed, I was just hoping I could have asana also add in the task name into the subject line as well automatically
Thank you,
Peter Costa

No, I don’t see a way to do this.
Even if you could append the task’s name as an email subject in your Email custom field, which would look like this: peter@easyappsmortgage.com?subject=Task name sample
(you could do this using our Flowsana integration), the core problem is that once that field contains anything other than just an email address itself, Asana no longer recognizes it as an email address and lets you open a new email in your mail client. (You can see this for yourself if you copy and paste my above sample text into your email field; it’s now just a regular text field.)
Ok thank you for understanding and trying. I see as that could be an issue. It’s ok, I will continue as I currently have! Appreciate it
Thank You,
Peter Costa
