Looking for a way to duplicate a board and be able to edit them individually without the data transferring between the two boards.
Welcome, @Amber_Forkey,
If you click the down arrow next to the project’s title (the project actions menu) and click Duplicate, you’ll see this:
I’m not clear on whether you’re asking to copy tasks or not, but you can choose as shown above. If you do copy them, just make sure not to check “Associated projects” which would cause the tasks to be shared among the old and new projects (multi-homing).
Thanks,
Larry
I would be talking about the boards under my individual tasks, not the projects although that is helping information to have about the projects.
Ah, that wasn’t clear. I had assumed by “board” you meant an Asana “project,” but instead I’ll assume you mean a Board tab within your My Tasks (that’s what you outlined in red, though what you’re showing in the screenshot is not that tab but the Dashboard tab).
If you want to just copy the board itself, click it once, then a second time to see this:
and choose Make a copy
You may want to contact Support if you mean something else: See How to contact our Support Team.
You’re correct, I am referring to a board tab within “my tasks”. I’ve been able to duplicate the board however once you change a task in one board, it automatically does it in the other board so they’re both the same 100% of the time, no matter the changes I make.
Perhaps you could contact Support with the link I included earlier, or maybe someone else will try to help here.
Hello @Amber_Forkey - When you are making a change to task, no matter the view. Those changes are going to sync for that task since they are still the same task being viewed in a different view.
This is how I would expect it to work, since a Board is just a way of displaying project objects such as tasks. If you edit a task in one Board you are actually editing the underlying task, so the changes will show in any view that you have chosen.
Does that make sense?
