My team spans EMEA, AMER, and APAC, and Asana makes it easy for us to stay connected and on track, no matter where we are.
That said, there’s one area where I believe Asana could become even more powerful: handling due dates and times across time zones.
As someone who manages a globally distributed team, setting task deadlines is a frequent part of my workflow. But currently, every time I create a task with a due time, I have to manually calculate the time zone difference between my location and the task owner’s—whether they’re in Canada, New Zealand, Australia, the US, or England. While external time zone converters exist, using them for every task quickly becomes tedious and inefficient.
What would be incredibly helpful is a native Asana feature that allows task due dates and times to be set in the local time zone of the assignee. For example, if I want a task to be completed by 5 AM in the assignee’s time zone two days from now, I’d love to set that directly—without doing the math myself. Ideally, it would still display in my own local time zone when I view it, but respect the assignee’s region for deadline accuracy and clarity.
This enhancement would be a game-changer for global teams like mine and would make Asana even more of a go-to for distributed collaboration.
