@Jason_Living drag and drop isn’t yet available in boards, actually. However, if you’d like to see drag and drop with boards, feel free to create a thread in the #productfeedback thread, so you and others can vote for the feature!
- Drag and drop DOES NOT work at all on Chrome 61.0.3163.100, on Windows 10.
- Drag and drop DOES work on Firefox 33.1, also on Windows 10. The site lags terribly though, to the point of unusability.
- Drag and drop DOES work, (cleanly, without lag) on Microsoft Edge 40.15063.0.0., on Windows 10
Hopefully this helps your tech or QA team.

Drag and drop doesn’t work to reorder tasks or to move them to a project, either in Chrome or Firefox (latest versions). It seems to work fine on my Android Samsung J7, Android version 6.0.1.
Thought it was me. Wish it wasn’t you. This is a huge feature loss.
For anyone having this issue I at least found a way around it for now. It seems to be with state being held when opening and closing the Asana menu, and if you right click and reload the page you will be able to drag and drop items between lists again.
If you interact with the Asana menu, most of the time your drag and drop will be broken again (i.e. if you either open or close), and you will need to reload the page again.
Alexis if you could please send this to your QA team it would be much appreciated, as it should just be a small bug with click state having to do with that menu, and it’s a pain to have to reload whenever using the menu.
Hope that helps everyone.
oops I forgot to tag @Alexis … please read my above comment ![]()
It is November and the issue is still in my Asana “My Tasks” section. No drag and drop. Can you please advice?
Some weird issue regarding dates too. Depending on the date I select, the section it is automatically dropped.
Hi there,
We have temporarily removed the drag and drop function from Asana in order to maximize speed & performance. You can read more about this initiative here: Learn About the Latest Performance Updates to Make Asana Faster
This is due to the updating of our system’s code from Luna1 to Luna 2. This may all sound like insider shop talk, but suffice it to say that the drag and drop from “My Tasks” capability you are seeking has not yet been transferred onto Luna 2, which is why what you’re seeking to do isn’t working for you just yet.
I encourage you to stay tuned to the product section of the blog (What's New In Asana? Product News and Updates from Asana) to stay tuned to our updates or subscribe to our blog to keep informed of all updates Asana.
I do want to thank you for your patience as I dug around the office for the answer but hopefully there is solace in knowing that this is a feature that will be back soon!
Thanks,
Alexis
@Alexis Since you brought up the Luna 1 and 2, I know this year is all about transforming Luna 1 to Luna 2 to improve the speed and performance. As a result, development on product function are not that fast. However, could you please give us a general idea for the next year?
Can we expect faster product development on functionality next year? or there are still works on migrating to Luna 2 to do and it will be some what similar to this year (functionality wise)?
Hi @Vib_Wor. We’re not able to provide specific details into our roadmap, but you can view details about our successes and plans on this subject in these two blog posts:
@Alexis is there a time frame when this migration is done. One member of our organization has this bug described here, all other members don’t. So are you migrating each user for it’s own?
Thanks,
Max
@Max_Rosch we don’t have a timeline at this time - it’s a process that is happening little by little. Thanks for your patience ![]()
i am suddenly experiencing this on one of my machines. on one machine, i can drag and drop no problem, but on another machine, when i attempt to select (left-click and hold) the mouse point does not change in the same manner.
on the working machine, when i click on a task, the mouse icon changes to a pointer with a small square attached)
on the non-working machine, when i click on a task, the mouse icon becomes just a plain pointer.
this appears to be a machine related problem, but i cannot confirm that
help
this is using chrome in both locations
and now it’s working. sorry. opened IE, moved the task and back in chrome, it works again.
Hi @Russ_Kendal! So, to confirm you’ve found a solution to your problem?
I can no longer drag tasks into subtasks or vice versa. This is a HUGE problem!
Is the another way we’re supposed to be moving subtasks now???
Hey @Chris_Griffith
Have you tried to test this out in incognito window in Chrome to see if this is a browser issue? Is this occurring in all browsers you log in to and test with?
Let us know since this capability has not been changed & should still work for you

For 3 days I have been unable to drag projects and reorder, same problem with tasks. I have cleared cache. I need a solution. This is wrecking havoc.
