Hi, I’m new to Asana so this questions might have an obvious solution but it’s evaded me and my research.
I am a small library hoping to use Asana to track ongoing daily/weekly/monthly tasks as well as projects. Since my routine projects don’t have an inherent end date/goal, I’ve already noticed how completed tasks hang around…forever. Most of the time I set the project to show Incomplete Tasks but moving forward this will begin to build up in a big way on the back end.
Do any of you have suggestions for how to navigate this? Is there a way to archive the completed task to save for reports but not have it directly on the project? Would love your insights.
Thanks!
Katrina
Hi @Katrina_LM, welcome to the Asana Community Forum!
I recommend you creating a project called “Archived tasks”, multi-home those tasks in this project and then remove them from your main project. This will help you clear your project and still keep the tasks for reporting purposes.
If you ever need to delete these tasks, @LEGGO posted a great tip to delete projects: Best Practices when deleting a Project
I hope this helps! ![ ](https://emoji.discourse-cdn.com/twitter/slight_smile.png?v=12)

Thank @Emily_Roman! I’ll give that a try though it might not prove the best long term solution. I worry it will create a bunch of busy work which I’m trying to avoid.
I’ve also considered cleaning up projects on a quarterly basis. Your solution might work best there. I don’t want to distract my staff from the joys of marking tasks complete with this extra step to appease my OCD nature. ![ ](https://emoji.discourse-cdn.com/twitter/slight_smile.png?v=12)
I see that there’s a way to archive tasks? This would be helpful.
Thanks again for the help and I’ll read up on Deleting Projects as well.

I see @Katrina_LM! No problem at all
As it stands, it’s currently not possible to archive tasks. This option is only available for projects. I suggest you to upvote for this feature here: Ability to archive tasks.
