Custom Field Formula - Column Alert

In our Portfolios, we have a custom field using a formula to calculate a total manual/entered value ($$$) and subtracting a $rollup value collected from all projects. NEW this week - a triangle/alert is located to the left of the custom field column header (with no explanation). The data/calculated differences previously there are all gone… I cannot determine why the formula stopped working and our data no longer appears?!?

When hovering over the triangle, what does it say?

Hi @Meghan_Seal , I’ve seen this issue before. Can you edit the formula slightly (for example add a +1 on the end) then edit it again, back to as it was. This usually gives it a kickstart to reset and work again.

Also, in the editor, look out in case a field or input of the formula has turned red, which may indicate a deleted field, for example.

Tried that… No pop-up appears with an explanation. Hovering only shows me the title of that column.

Hmmm - tried a few things yesterday and even your option to add another element to the formula. It did the same thing yesterday… spinning in the column like it was recalculating (screenshot attached) and then it turned blank again. Also posting a screenshot of my formula (real formula is the two steps not including ‘+1000’) in case anyone has addt’l advice. Thanks!

Hmmm… have you noticed whether you still have issues when you don’t use a rollup field? I’m wondering if rollups in Portfolios are having some issues, lately.

Hi,

I have noticed the same problem and the suggestions above have also not fixed it for me.

My formula fields without rollups do work, so it does look to be specific to rollups fields in the formula.

Agreed - it is those with rollups, it appears!

@Meghan_Seal , @Mark_P , thanks for the feedback. I can also replicate this!

@Vanessa_N , could you please escalate to the team for investigation?

The formula fields with roll ups seem to be working now.

Saw that this morning - how WONDERFUL!

Hi everyone, sorry for the delay! I’ve reached out to our Developers to check if this related to any A/B test, or if there’s any known issue with custom field formulas. As soon as I hear back from them, I’ll share the updates.

Hi everyone, thanks for your patience. Our Developers have confirmed that this issue was due to a bug that has since been fixed. If any of you are still experiencing this issue, can you please refresh Asana and try again? Let me know if the problem persists so I can pass this info back to the Developers. Thank you!
