I need a specific task created at a specific time each week, regardless if the previous task was completed or not.
Due to this requirement it makes it impossible to manage all our recurring tasks. I still have to keep spreadsheet to make sure I don’t miss any of the routine tasks which defeats the purpose of a task management system.
Can anyone help me understand the thinking behind not being able to create a task on a set schedule but instead only if the previous task was completed. I don’t care if there are 2 or more of the same task. I then know what was not done and can address.

Hi @Sammye_Klein, great question!
The purpose of recurring tasks is to automatically schedule identical, repeating work. A new task will not be populated until the previous has been marked complete because, in theory, you shouldn’t move onto next weeks task, for example, if you haven’t yet completed this weeks.
I hope this helps provide more clarity!
I get the concept but, unfortunately, in theory is not the real world.
Being able to reliably generate a task would be extremely useful. Maybe add an option the user can select - generate only when completed or generate on set schedule.

I agree with you, that’s why I created a tool to create “real” recurring tasks that all appear in Asana in advance.
Let me know if that helps.
