Copy and Paste Custom Field values?

Can you copy and paste values in customer fields? It is really tedious to have to click each dropdown box and select the option. Thx!

Hi Rachel, for a custom field you can copy and paste values for field types which are text or number. For a drop-down field I don’t believe you can paste values for already created tasks.

Hi! I am trying to figure out how to copy each response within a custom field column in List view similar to how I would a spreadsheet and am not having any success. How do I go about doing that?

Hi @anon95252980, are the values you are trying to copy text or numbers? If so, you should be able to highlight the fields and then use Cntrl+C and Cntrl+V to cut and paste as appropriate.

Thank you for your reply @Bernie_Orelup! The values are text — First Name, Last Name, and Email Address — which are input into separate fields. While the copy and paste method seems to work with individual values (i.e. a single name or a single email), it does not seem to allow me to highlight much less copy multiple values, either across fields or even within the same task. I can copy multiple tasks but that doesn’t allow me to pull specifically categorized info from the project in the ways I had hoped it would, similar to what a spreadsheet would allow. Is there a way to easily copy and paste multiple values in the same field without having to export the entire project?

Hi @anon95252980. I understand. Currently you can only do this if the value you want to update is the same for every task (using multi-select). Please see this thread for more details. Pasting values into custom text field for multiple tasks (vertically)

If you select multiple tasks you can edit the values for each of the custom fields for those tasks all at the same time
