Appreciate the video, but this is still a big friction point for me because I don’t have time to take all of those steps. Plus, I don’t know what to do about an intricate form I’ve set up. I guess alternatively it would be helpful to be able to rearrange forms even more.

@John_McDermott I gave you an answer on my YouTube video but no this is not something that is available yet as a feature, you can’t change a field’s type I am afraid.

Much needed! I honestly am only even trying to convert them because the multi-select has better filtering options. I will still use the field as a single-select but need better filters.
+1 Does not seem to be an option though this was marked as “solved”. I see a workaround, but why go through all that work rather than just allow the update to the field type for at least single to multi-select.

I’m new to Asana (company is migrating from Monday.com against our wishes) and I am baffled that this isn’t possible. It seems like such a simple thing to be missing?

Nothing is ever easy in product development, even for Monday. Asana decided to not prioritise this, and having worked with hundreds of clients myself with my team, I can tell you it is painful when it happens, but we ended up being fine and it is not that problematic. Long story short, I’d love to see this feature, but also liked seeing other additions released instead. (personal opinion)
I use a custom field to select people traveling. It was set up as single select because I had not anticipated needing to select more than one person. However, today, I had that need but I cannot change the field type.
Just allowing a simple change to the field type would be so much easier than deleting and recreating the field. I really hope this ability is added in the near future. I often have project needs change in the middle of the project.
My temporary fix was adding a new single entry including both people. However, this is not ideal.
I would like to expand this to change the field type - not just to single-select/multi-select. I have a situation where I needed to change single-select to People.

are there any plans to add this? It’s been raised since 2021 and it is still not added. I have had to deal with manual updating some many times and it is super time consuming.

It would be nice to have the ability to change the field type. Specifically going from a single select to a multi-select or vice versa.
This is something I would definitely like to see. It’s quite easy to forget to change the field type and only realise after you have created the options.
It would be great to be able to change the filed type from single-select to multi-select. I hope this is something that can be done. It clearly is needed by many.

Yes, need this. Please Asana. Come on. This is… so frustrating.
You create a single select, you craft your options, I have one with like 30 options. Then you realise there are scenarios where more than one may apply, you want to convert it into multi-select and be done with it. Not have to recreate the whole thing.
