Completed Tasks not copied into Template when creating template from existing project

Hi! I want to “create a template” from an exisiting project I have. We are halfway through the project so many tasks are completed, but I need them to still exist in the template. There is a note that says: !The following will not be copied to your template: Apps, any completed tasks.

How do I get the completed tasks to be on the new template?

I don’t want to recreate the template from scratch.

Welcome, @Sierra_Camille,

You could, in the existing project, go to Project actions menu > Duplicate. Carefully set the checkboxes to keep what you need in the template, but recognize that this copy will cause side effects, like if tasks are assigned to others, or multi-homed–that last one in particular is why Associated projects is left unchecked.

Then, when ready, in the duplicated project, batch select all completed tasks and mark them incomplete. Then convert this project to a template.
