Of all the weird springs they’ve evidently pursued in the past, with portfolios, inbox tweaks, etc., I’m surprised that this has been continually pushed aside.
Hi Asana team,
I’m very suprised to see that Asana does not have the ability to format text as a block quote.
Like this
This kind of formatting is almost ubiquitous in editors today. Notice even your forum supports it.
Block quotes ftw
Can you add these to Asana itself?
Thanks!
Hey @anon39860183, welcome to the Asana Community Forum
You might want to upvote this existing thread: Comments tree (threaded comments), please (NFR)
And not sure if you are aware about the Linkable comments feature already?
HI Andrea, thanks for the reply!
While the Comments tree and Linkable comments features sound great for other reasons, I’m looking to put some text into a block quote that is not within other comments.
I love Asana, but there I wonder if there isn’t a better way to organize the comments, maybe with tabs. Because activity, messages, and comments/updates are all thrown into the same stream, trying to quickly grasp what’s going on in a comment or track down relevant information can be tough. Even just separating out all the “mike changed the due date” activity logs would make things a little cleaner in there.
Hi @Zahra_Cruzan, thanks for taking the time to provide this feedback!
We do have an existing post in the #productfeedback requesting the addition of comment threads in Asana so I’ve gone ahead and merged your post with the existing one to consolidate feedback.
This is a popular request so hopefully it is something our Product team can implement in the future. I’ll keep you posted with any updates
Another upvote here.
Please add this feature.
Hi,
I also believe that this is a very handy (and necessary!) feature. We are a small team but even then at times we are having troubles following which replies for which comments and that is frustrating especially when we are in rush.
Even if the thread view is not possible, it would be very helpful if we know (a link to the comment) if a comment was made for another comment or simply a new comment.
Another upvote here. This option would really greatly increase the productivity of the discussion.
And also if there is an opportunity to add a toogle button to the comments tree to easily navigate in the comments. There are nightmare to discuss when you have long term task with with dozens of comments
Any news on threaded comments? Must be the most popular demands that is out on forums. Why such a low priority? And also not really a trainsmasher to implement…
Hello.
I often find that when comments are made within a task or milestone, there is no way to organize the discussion within milestone without making a new subtask. Is it possible to add a feature that will allow team member to reply to a comment, thus making a new thread within the comment section? That would be very helpful.
Thanks.
CB

Four years we have been asking for threaded comments. Four years. I’d guess your engineers often use Slack, teams, Reddit, and many other services where threading has been available since…forever! Having a linear-only comment stream for a task is next to pointless.
Hello is there a way to reply directly to comments within a project?
My Team have multiple chats and most of the time its hard to keep track of which conversation I’m replying to
It would be great to add this feature instead of finding their questions then copying and pasting my reply
Thanks
Hi @The_Clothing_Lounge ,
Can you describe what is happening here in a little more detail?
Two specific questions I have are:
- Where is the initial message/comment being created from?
- Where are you replying from?
Christine
You can’t, there is a single thread of discussions. You need to write a single comment and explicitely say who you are answering to
One thing possible though is to copy the comment link, paste it and then type your answer

Wish a comments tree existed. Seems strange that it hasn’t been implemented yet.
