Welcome to the Forum @anon54710459 and thank you for sharing your feedback with us!
I’m glad to hear you are enjoying Asana and yes, due to the current situation we are also working from home.
I totally support your suggestion! I agree this would be super useful! We already have an existing thread regarding this topic so if you don’t mind I’ve gone ahead and merged your post to consolidate feedback and votes! Please don’t forget to cast your vote
Threaded comments would be very helpful, especially when there are 60 comments on a task from different team members and clients with a bunch of questions and notes. It makes the conversation experience very cumbersome, which then leads my team to use Slack instead.
Our team uses Slack on a daily basis and I would prefer that they use Asana comments for non-urgent task-related questions and updates. This would really help with productivity and people don’t have to feel the need to respond immediately like on Slack.
I would like to know how we can reply non last comments of the task? I mean, if we are different people in the team and someone make the first comment in a task, and then another person make another comment how Can I reply the first comment?
Thanks
Please make threading happen - this is so common across all types of messaging applications and SaaS tools, it’s clearly been validated. Even iMessage has the feature!
Yes really hoping Asana will step up and add this. With the ability to use Asana’s great Update features in Projects/Portfolios (and I hope Goals soon!), there is a real chance to eliminate internal Email with Asana, but without threads it’s hard to have clarity that you are responding to a specific earlier comment. Thanks!
Yes please! After the introduction of the new messaging features in January messages got a desperately needed upgrade. Cheers to that! But still, I think threaded messages (not only task comments) would be huge! Please add this feature!
Hi @Wataru_Yamada, thanks for sharing your feedback with us! We already have a thread on this topic so I’ve gone ahead and merged your post with the main thread to consolidate feedback!
Is there any update on this for an upcoming release? With many companies still working from home this would be insanely helpful. Things get lost so easily and it makes it extremely difficult to collaborate with so many different team members and comments.
This is fast becoming a critical need. I know its a big project to do it right, but even rough marginal steps forward would drastically reduce the risk Asana becomes an unworkable option.
Just a ‘quote’ feature like you have here, or a la Reddit, would be huge.
It would be good if the comments function can be developed further. For example: apply the option to reply to a comment vs comment in the entire comment box.
We use the options of follow / unfollow in tasks, but for a comment, my reply will go to everyone where I could have replied to one person only, and in Conversations, my reply will go to the one who initiated the conversation but not the entire group…
Conversations definitely needs some fine-tuning in my opinion - I understand what they’re going for, but I think I and most people use conversations a little like email and not having it default to send to everyone is a bit annoying. I haven’t dug into their rationale about it, but if it’s something they feel strongly about I think I’d be interested in hearing more about it.
But also a complete +1 for comment thread possibilities. Not saying it’s mandatory, but it would be interesting to discuss its pros/cons.
I’m quite surprised at how few people have backed such an old suggestion.
In active task threads with many comments, it’s easy to lose a reply three or four up from the bottom. Threading by allowing a reply chain to a comment would make it easier to track some conversations.
That could even be extended to then have an expand / shrink tab for that particular question and its replies.
Yes, I need this as well. I end up having to “copy paste” quoted material. I need to be able to reply to, like we can on Twitter. I also wish we could bring in hashtags like we can on twitter, in order to further create links to disparate threads.
