Codesana

Today I’m sharing an Asana related side-project we are developing at Volcanic that some of you might be interested in.

It is a Chrome Extension called Codesana, a Chrome extension designed for developers who use Asana for task management.With this extension, you can quickly and easily insert formatted coding text into your Asana task descriptions. It supports a variety of coding languages, including Python, JavaScript, HTML, CSS, and more.

The extension automatically formats your code to make it more readable and visually appealing. It uses syntax highlighting to color code your code and improves the indentation to make it easier to read.

This extension saves time for developers who frequently add code snippets to their task descriptions, as it eliminates the need to manually format code or use external tools to generate formatted code snippets.

We are currently beta testing it and I’d love to have the feedback from experts like you. If you want us to have access to this beta please fill this form so we can “whitelist” your email address and you can use Codesana for free.I also attach a couple of screenshots so you can see the outcome of Codesana. Thank you!

That’s really awesome!

Thanks.

Asana team, can’t you make it by default? Thanks in advance!

@Андрей_Антыков,

It’s not as fancy as Codesana but you can add code blocks to Asana task descriptions now:

@Phil_Seeman

Thank you, I’m aware of this possibility.

But it’s not acceptable at all. There’s no code highlighting, no “copy all” button without selecting, and for some reason, each line is separated. This won’t work in 2024 ))

Asana could invest a little in UI/UX considering their pricing. Basic features should be implemented:
• code highlighting
• several images in a row
• task collapsing (as it’s done in ClickUp)
• preview of uploaded videos
…and more.

Notion and ClickUp are right on your heels, folks :wink:

I really love Asana and advocate for it wherever I can (you could say I’m an evangelist), but even I find it hard to justify these oddities to my colleagues.

Yeah @Андрей_Антыков I would have to agree with you - the presentation of the code block is not great. I don’t understand the line separations, either; very odd (without even considering the other features you mention).
