+1 for ```

+1…

+1 for better code snippets

+1 absolutely required

Late April marked the 5-year anniversary of this thread. Asana, if you’re looking for a nice anniversary present for us, I think looking through the posts in here may give you some good & easy ideas!

Would love to see this too, the current implementation for backtick to just monospace is not enough
and code block is something really essential for SW teams
This is how Shortcut does it, i really wish Asana would implement this as well

Must have, I don’t get every tools around have it and not Asana.

+1 please. for the triple ``` script tag.

Can’t believe this isn’t a feature yet. 5 years and still no movement? The specific implementation isn’t nearly as important as the feature itself. However the ``` implementation would make the most sense since they are already using the single ` for monospace.

Hi, yet another developer here, looking for my team’s next issue tracker. Asana looks pretty great in so many ways but an issue tracker without code blocks is unusable for us :slightly_frowning_face:

I’m curious can you give an example code getting modified in monospace mode? I’m trying it out now and so far monospace mode seems to leave everything alone… I wonder if they fixed it?

When you copy whole blocks of code straight from IDE to ticket will make that text monospace for me. It’s not as neat as an implementation of let’s say Jira and all around avoid pasting code snippets in tickets to be honest.

I’ve resorted to snippets in Bitbucket for that… It’s not ideal for sure.

+1, I’m surprised this isn’t a thing.

Monospace doesn’t keep the code in a box so can make it difficult to distinguish from comments that aren’t code when using larger snippets - and doesn’t provide a scroll bar.

Director of engineering here. So I now have to go back to my team and express my sincerest apologies for pitching them on moving from Jira (which we all dislike) to Asana.

This was something I assumed to be a given. I only discovered it when writing my first engineering task. Lack of code formatting is a dealbreaker for us.

It is incredibly surprising to find out that this isn’t a thing…as we’re attempting to migrate many issues containing code snippets into Asana.
