Would you mind letting me know what kind of Asana subscription you have? Do you use our free or a paid version?
It is not feasible to change the colour of an entire column, but I am trying to find a workaround for you and having this extra bit of information would be helpful.

You could have a first task at the top of the column with an horizontal image with the right color =) or use the correct emoji in the column name.
