Yes, I’ve seen this too and also find it strange when I join customer’s spaces as a guest.
However, when you go into the Admin Console, all members and guests are shown to have an ‘Enterprise’ license, for example. The contrary would be to have a View only license, I suppose.
That can also be confusing for Admins when it comes to licensing management, seeing all guests having a ‘license’. I understand this issue may merit it’s own thread but I feel they may be related, thus throwing it out there.
@lpb, I’m also curious if this banner only pops up for just for Enterprise accounts (which have view only licenses). Have you noticed it on other non-Enterprise spaces?
Thanks, @Richard_Sather, for including the treatment of “licenses” in the Admin Console. I always used “licenses” and “seats” interchangeably, so I don’t understand what the definitions of these words are now.
I can’t really recall before having seen this popup when I just a new org, either for Enterprise or any other plans, so not sure…
Thanks so much, @Joanna_Colgan, and great to see this improvement made so quickly.
While this is greatly improved, I’m still confused!
“License”: Is this no longer used interchangeably with “seat”? I thought the wording for this notice to me as a Guest would be that I have “Enterprise+ access,” not a license/seat.
“other members”: This could be read to imply that I’m a member when I’m not. And I can collaborate not just with members but with guests too.
“enterprise+”: A minor point, but is the standard to not capitalize this?
(@Richard_Sather, I’m let down that you gave this a like and didn’t beat me to the punch with these bullets )
I guess I celebrated prematurely.. I didn’t get the chance to get into the weeds.
Fully agree on all points. This messaging is definitely still confusing to Guests!
A ‘Member’ in the Admin Console refers to a paid seat. There is a separate tab for ‘Guests’ that, as we know, do not occupy a ‘license/seat’.
I think there needs to clearly be a different banner and messaging for paid users (Members) VS non-paid members (Guests).
That is what I would hope for!
@Joanna_Colgan, it would be great to understand if there’s some language usage that Asana is using now deliberately that is different; that’s a key point to clarify because that would affect our communications and understanding in various areas. Otherwise, if it’s just this one banner’s wording, it’s simpler, more constrained, and I think many ways approaches that would satisfy all needs.
