Attachments

If I add an attachment- a spreadsheet for example- to a task from my computer files and after that the file is edited, will the attachment in Asana automatically be edited too or do I have to save the new version of the file?
On another note if I open an attachment in Asana and I edit it will it them change the origin file?

Hi @David_M_Kassin, thanks for reaching out!

If you added the file from your computer, the changes won’t be automatically saved and the new changes you made won’t affect the original file. If you need the changes to be automatically saved and edit just one file, I suggest you to upload your attachments via Dropbox or Google Drive.

I hope this helps! Let me know if you have any questions!

Can we add a link to the comment instead of the actual file?

Yes, you can add the link to the file in a task comment! I usually do that  Just make sure to share the file with the people that need access so they can make the changes and access the file.

Thank you!

May I ask one more question? I’m having difficulty downloading Asana for Outlook, I’m trying to do this so that I can forward emails from Outlook and turn them into Comments in the applicable tasks. Can you help me on that also?

Hi @David_M_Kassin, please try to install the Outlook add-in from this link.

Please note the Asana for Outlook add-in is not available for personal accounts. It can only be downloaded for your work email address. An Office 365 subscription is also required to use Asana for Outlook. In addition to the Outlook Web App, we support the Outlook 2016 desktop app.

If the issue persists and you have all the requirements, I recommend you contacting our support team and confirm you have the requirements above:

I hope this helps!

Are there any plans for Exchange Server compatibility?
