Assigning Tasks to Others' My Tasks List in Asana

Hi Asana Community,

I’m Gabriel, a Program Lead for the Product Pillar on the Customer Support team at Asana! :waving_hand:

Today, I’d like to share a tip that might seem simple, but can be a game-changer!

As many of you know, you can create tasks in your My Tasks by emailing x@mail.asana.com — as detailed in our Help Center. However, a common question I get is: How can I assign tasks directly to someone else’s My Tasks list?

Great news — you can! Here’s how:

  • Open the person’s profile in Asana, click on “View all tasks"

  • In the arrow icon besides the profile name, select “Add tasks via Email”:

  • Copy the email address that will appear to you as below:

Then you just need to create your email and paste the address above! This should create a task under other person my tasks list.

Please note that you won’t be able to see your own my tasks ID by clicking in “Adding tasks via email” in Asana. However, in order to get your own ID, please follow the steps below:

  1. Access your my tasks
  2. Copy the numbers after /0/ from the URL bar
  3. For example: https:/app.asana.com/0/1234567890111314/1000222000323023
  4. Copy 1234567890111314 and paste it after the x+ in the email address. Example: x+1234567890111314@mail.asana.com

The x+1234567890111314@mail.asana.com will be your own my tasks ID and you can share it with other users if you wish them to create tasks under your my tasks via email.

I hope this tip helps in your workflows! :grinning:
