Asana Prints in a foreign language

Hi there, for some odd reason my asana will only print tasks now in complete gobbledegook language. It looks like a mix of Chinese, Russian and Klingon.
Swear I did not touch anything in settings or anywhere and just tried to print something and it appeared as the screenshot.
Soooo strange and I have no idea how to fix. Obviously no one else in my office is having any problems at all

.

Steps to reproduce:

HI @jeremy9 and thanks for the report, thatā€™s definitely not intended. Would you mind answering these few questions to help us investigating?

  1. In what country are you based?
  2. Did this just happen? If not, could you tell me at what time it happened?
  3. Is your Asana set up in English?
  4. What are you trying to print? can you send us the URL of the project/task/report youā€™re trying to print?
  5. Are you able to reproduce this with another task/project?

Looking forward to your reply!

Hi there Marie, thanks for the message.
I am in NEW YORK USA
No it happened yesterday, Iā€™m not sure what time, I just went to print something and it wouldnā€™t print correctly.
Yes Asana is set up in English
Here is the URL: Log in - Asana
Interestingly, my boss also has access to this task and it printed as normal from his computer.
Anything I try to print does not show in english.
Nothing has changed on my computer except a mac update to 10.5 Catalina yesterday morning.
Actually I just went on a colleagues computer and logged on as me, I was able to print as usual normally from her computer so I guess it has been something to do with the mac os update.
All other programs print as usual.

Very confusing.

Thanks for the additional info @jeremy9, thatā€™s super useful. Iā€™m passing in it on to our Dev Team right now and will keep you posted as soon as I have an update!

Thanks, Iā€™m so far the only one to do the Mac update. Awaiting further news.
Jeremy

Iā€™m keeping a close eye on this, and will be in touch asap, but if you could tell your colleagues to hold on to the update for now, that would be great! Thanks for your help Jeremy, really appreciate it!

ok, I finish for the day now so will check back in for news tomorrow.
Jeremy

Hi Marie, did you hear anything back from the dev team about my printing issues? I still canā€™t print anything from my lap top.
Thanks, Jeremy

Not yet @jeremy9, but Iā€™m keeping a close eye on it and will keep you posted as soon as I have an update on my end!

Hi,

I have exactly the same problem!

  1. In what country are you based?
    Portugal

  2. Did this just happen? If not, could you tell me at what time it happened?
It began some days ago after the update to Catalina. Everything is updated.

  3. Is your Asana set up in English?
Yes, and my Mac language is English too.

  4. What are you trying to print? can you send us the URL of the project/task/report youā€™re trying to print?
    Log in - Asana
Iā€™m trying to print a task and subtasks.
Thereā€™s a PDF with the printing example here:
Dropbox - File Deleted - Simplify your life

  5. Are you able to reproduce this with another task/project?
I get the same result printing a Task or a Project. Iā€™ve exported a Project using CSV, and it worked fine. Printing from other pages on chrome, and printing from files, works properly.

I hope this helps finding the bug faster!

Iā€™ve tried to print using Safari and it prints correctly.
I thinks that there is a problem printing with chrome.

Thanks for the report @Miguel_Teibao, Iā€™ve added it to the bug I filed earlier on. It looks this issue is only impacting Chrome, so Iā€™d suggest to use another browser for the time being if you heavily rely on printing. Iā€™ll keep you posted here as soon as I have an update!

yep, problem with Chrome, mine also prints using safari (which is not our work browser).
Keep us posted on the fix.
Thanks!

I am also having this issue on Chrome on Mac with the latest updates installed. This does not happen when using Asana on my PC with Chrome.

I hope you fix this issue fast as I use the Mac at work pretty exclusively.

Hi folks,

Our team just pushed a fix for this issue, so this should now be resolved! If you have any questions or continue running into trouble, please let me know!

Iā€™m still having this issue in Chrome/Catalinaā€” Page 1 looks normal but other pages are in another language.

@Marie and @Natalia,

Iā€™m also curious about @Nicole_Boucherā€™s report from 8 days ago, which may be similar to Print preview and print is garbled - #18 by Shmuel_Davidoff from @Shmuel_Davidoff more recently. Both of these posts were made after the fix you mentioned was released, so maybe itā€™s not fully fixed? Iā€™m interested because Iā€™ve gotten a report about similarly-garbled output from Asana2Go from a user (though Iā€™ve never been able to reproduce it). If you or your dev team have any update or anything I can check into Iā€™d appreciate it.

Thanks,

Larry

Thanks for the mention @lpb and for flagging this and sincere apologies @Nicole_Boucher for the delay in responding.

Can you please confirm if you are still running into this issue? If yes, could you provide the following information?

  • I see you are trying to print your My Task. Is this also happening when trying to print a Project or task?
  • Is your browser updated?
  • Are you able to print normally when using Cmd-P?
  • Are running into the same issue while using a different Browser?

Looking forward to your reply!

Itā€™s not happening on my laptop, but did happen on my desktop stillā€”it was page 3 or later when using the Print feature, not the CMD+P, which was fine but doesnā€™t give all the text details.
