I’m a bit concerned: we built our integration on top of App Components because we got the impression last year it was a serious investment by Asana.
But there have been literally two posts to this forum all year, one of which was a reply to my team member acknowledging a major issue with installation workflows via the Desktop app. And, from what we’ve seen, no improvements to the App Components platform in over a year.
I don’t mean to come across as overly negative, I really just would love to know if this is a capability we should continue to utilize or if we should be moving our integration over to a more active part of the developer platform such as simple REST APIs.
Compare this to the core Developers & API part of this forum, which is WAY more active. And that leads me to think this isn’t the “new way to integrate” we thought it was when it was launched and rather a bit of an unsupported experiment.
Any guidance would be very much appreciated. Thank you.

Hi @Patrick_Lightbody –
Kem here from the Developer Relations team at Asana. First off, I want to acknowledge that we have not been very active with further investments in the App Components platform recently. That said, please rest assured that the current App Components offering is fully supported. (I removed “Beta” from the forum category name to indicate this.) I would encourage and hope that you continue to utilize the capability. I should also say that we expect most apps using App Components to be also using REST APIs for more robust functionality.
Additionally, I want to let you know that we’re looking into ways to re-activate investments in this area and hope to address some longstanding enhancement requests and bugs, and release new components. So please stay tuned; I hope to have more news to share with you in a month or two.
In the meantime, I’d be curious to learn what your top issues and feature enhancements would be given your current utilization.
Best,
Kem

I would love for them to get some love as well. If you combine improving AppComponents with supporting the developer community (through badges, highlights, grants…) we could build some powerful things!
