Archiving tasks - hack

I’m looking for this capability…almost 3 years later. So, here are your answers if it helps in expediting this function/option:

  • In what scenarios do you want to get rid of tasks in a project? Please explain why.

1-on-1 meetings/individual action items —all of these are continually added to projects for our organization which means the list of tasks can get extremely long with completed tasks and tasks that are being added. Being able to archive completed tasks to clean up the space is almost essential and certainly preferable not to mention supports Asana’s mission to make “working together effortlessly”

  • In what scenarios do you want to get rid of a group of tasks in a project (if different than response to above)? Please explain why.

see above but apply to staff meetings and group/team action items

  • What can Asana do to create the best way for you to get rid of tasks in a project?

Add an archive option to be able to archive completed tasks essentially preserving the task that was completed and who it was assigned to but making it “invisible” from the running project list

To answer, regarding what we would need in an ideal case:

We have tasks which recur in a regular basis and I would like, eg at the end of each year remover the tasks, which already have been completed, but keep them for record, as they might contain information on how a certain problem was dealt with.

  • I could imagine each project having a ‘ghost’, where one could save these tasks and are automatically created, when we create the project.
  • I imagine to be able to select one or multiple tasks and say ‘move to archive’ with one click.
  • I could imagine and automation in the business option, where after a certain amount of time following completion, the tasks would be automatically moved into the archive project.

Should be all programmable with the existing functionalities.

Thanks!
