Android 9 is unsupported, mobile browser forces me to use an app. Am I supposed to ditch Asana after 10 years of use ?

Hello,

At some point recently, as I launched the mobile Asana app on my Android 9 device, it wouldn’t let me skip a screen asking me to upgrade.

On Google Play, the upgrade process uninstalled Asana, only to let me know my device was no longer supported. Hence, (1) I have no more Asana app.

When I go to the Asana website and try to log on, the website only offers me to download the app, or to continue in the app (if installed). (2) No access to the web-based Asana on mobile browser.

So what am I supposed to do ? Are you aware you are ditching your old users and pushing them to alternatives ?

Would there be no way to maintain an old APK somewhere (that would not force you to upgrade) as a tradeof ?

Best regards,

Hi @Marcel,

I can’t speak for Asana, but I do know that for security and reliability reasons, once a device is running an operating system that falls outside the supported window, the Play Store prevents installing newer versions. This ensures that users are always on a secure, supported version of the app.

I believe the only workaround would be using the desktop version of your browser and accessing Asana through the web.
