Iâm contacting with a Direct Message on the forum
Echoing Arthur message above (we both work at iDO) I wanted to point out that this assistant has been deprecated, the technical partner in charge canât ensure the correct level of support and reliability anymore, sorry for the inconvenience.
Câmon Asana! This is a basic efficiency feature that should be in the basic toolset by now. I mean, if I have a project with 30 tasks (not uncommon) and a slew of people need to be on all tasks (also not uncommon) there should be a way to update any/selected/all tasks with a given set of collaborators.
Options for a solution:
-
Enable multiple teams per project. Be able to highlight multiple tasks, right click or dropdown light, and select the team for all the tasks.
-
Enable the Collaborators dialog from the main menu. Build a team there. Have a dropdown with checkboxes of all the Tasks for the Project. Check the Tasks you want to update with the Collaborator list.
-
Set up a single task with a Collaborator list. Then highlight multiple Tasks, right click or dropdown, âUpdate Collaborators from Taskâ, select the Task whose Collaborator list you want copied to the highlighted Tasks, click OK.
FELLOW COMMENTATORSâPLEASE GO TO THE TOP OF THE PAGE AND VOTE THIS ONE UP!!
HEY FOLKS THERE IS A WAY TO DO THIS!! I was trying out of desperation and found that itâs already there.
-
Select multiple tasks:
-
Click the ellipsis (âŚ)
-
Click Add Collaborators
-
Update the collaborator lists for the selected tasks
a. If there are different collaborators on the various selected tasks:
i. The entire list as-is will not update the selected tasks. ii. To update all the selected tasks: x-out all the collaborators. All collaborators will be deleted from all the selected Tasks. Then add the team members you want. This will now update all the selected tasks.b. If all of the tasks have no collaborators:
i. Easy--just add collaborators. ii. All the selected tasks will be updatedc. If all of the selected tasks have the same list of collaborators:
i. Add or x-out collaborators ii. and all the selected tasks will be updated.
NOTE THIS IS COMPLETELY LIVE: THERE IS NO âSAVE BUTTONâ. AND THERE IS NO âUNDOâ BUTTON!!
When you select multiple tasks and Add collaborators, thereâs no need to delete any existing collaborators first in order to add any.
The list of collaborators you see are those present on any one of the selected tasks.
The key point is: seeing a person in the list doesnât necessarily mean they are a collaborator on all of the selected tasks.
To make sure they are a collaborator on all tasks, simply type or autocomplete the nameâagainâfor each person you want to ensure is a collaborator on all tasks. Itâs the same for new Collaborators; just type or autocomplete their name.
Thanks,
Larry
Well we keep forgetting people so are you guys still thinking about this? Care to share progress? Thanks in advance.
Hi everyone, this isnât on our roadmap yet, but we recently released a feature that might help as a partial workaround for some of the use cases shared in this thread. We understand this workaround wonât address every scenario mentioned here, but it may help in some cases:
Thereâs now an option to copy the list of collaborators from a task, which can be useful if you often work with a small, recurring group of people. For example, you could create a âplaceholderâ task that lists all your usual collaborators, then easily copy that list and paste it into other tasks as needed.
The only drawback is that youâd need to manually update the placeholder task whenever you need to add or remove someone from the list. Also, this âcopy collaborator listâ feature is currently only available on the task level, not at the project or team levels.
Weâll keep this topic open and continue tracking interest in a more permanent solution. And if the copy option becomes available at the project or team level, weâll let you know. ![]()
Thanks @Shun_Sakurai for pointing this out!
Excellent; thanks, @Vanessa_N!
