I frequently use Slack to hold conversations about projects, usually in a project-specific channel (ex: #projectname). It would be super rad to have a new Asana view that integrates with Slack.
A couple of ways I could see this working:
- It’s just the channel, embedded into Asana as a view
- For permissions, forcing the user who added the channel to Asana to add any other collaborators on the project to the Slack channel.
- Or, showing a notification to users in Asana that it’s a private channel and that they need to request access if they don’t already have it.
- Or, only allowing channels that aren’t private to be added to Asana.
- Another way this could go: the “messages” functionality in Asana plays nicely with Slack: when a message is posted in Asana messages, it’s also posted to a designated Slack channel. Two-way functionality would be ideal, so if someone replied or sent a new message in the Slack channel, it would also show up in Asana messages.) Then, all the previous Slack/Asana integration features would be even more useful!
This would be a lot of work and a good amount of problem-solving. But since Slack is one of the leaders in workplace messaging, it could be a really useful feature for lots of users. ![]()
