Add context and clarity to dashboards with customizable text widgets

Hi Asana community!

Today, I’m excited to announce we are launching a new text widget for dashboards!

Text widgets are text boxes that can be added to your dashboards to add context and narrative on them. They enhance the flexibility and impact of dashboards by enabling you to include explanations in the form of text, asana links, images or tables alongside your dashboard charts, data and metrics.

Use cases:

  • Executive dashboard commentary: A text widget summarizes key metrics and priorities, enabling quick leadership decisions.
  • Project status overview: Provides sprint health insights with visual indicators and key metrics for easy team reference.
  • Dashboard guide: Acts as a quick-reference manual, aiding navigation and data interpretation.

Just tried it - good update - I was hoping embed link would embed a webpage into the widget, which would be great for reports on time tracking or project profitability from another software.

As an example, here is a patchwork of a few use-cases for your texts in dashboards.

  • Text with nice formating (with emojis :rocket:)
    but also…
  • Embedd videos
  • Embedd other formats (like Miro or Looker for a consolidated dashboarding)
& for more ideas of embeddable format, see "Direct embedding" in tasks, the complete list)

I like the addition of “draft comments”. It allows me to finish my thoughts on comments I didn’t send or clean-up the ones I forgot to delete.

Hi @Aline_Stapp , I think you might be referring to a different topic…?

This is referring to the new widgets on the home page?

Hi @Aline_Stapp , this topic is about new ‘text’ widgets in the Dashboard tab of a project, portfolio or a universal Dashboard (under the Reporting tab in the sidebar).

But I also like the ‘Draft comments’ widget in the Home page, too
