I am voting for adding the ability to change text color. Especially when writing descriptions and or notes in a project! It helps to provide clear section or topic changes rather than just all one color (regardless of bolding/underlining or not) it seems that there are a lot of folks who would like this feature, too. Hoping Asana makes this update 
Personally I don’t care about colour options in text.
If this does end up being considered, I’m hoping this won’t get in the way of Further Markdown Support, which I think is an underrated request.
Really frustrating this this feature isn’t on the horizon. We use comments in Asana for content reviews and being able to highlight text changes would be extremely useful. The existing options are to apply bold, italics, & underlines, but sometimes those are used in the actual end copy, so having to rely on them to indicate changes can get messy.
Marking as “Considered”! While I don’t have a timeline for you all in supporting text highlighting specifically, this is one of my go-to Text Editor enhancement references for work we plan to do in the upcoming year.

We switched from Jira to Asana and the lack of font colors is a critical drawback compared on how we used to work. Please fix this, the vast majority of rich HTML editors have font color selection.
Does this mean that you don’t have a time frame, but it the Asana team is actively working to make it a feature?
I’d like to re-itterate this.
I can understand the desire for text colour (although I don’t find myself in need of it) but I feel addressing this before supporting real markdown support would not be wise, as it would introduce more re-work / resistance to improving markdown support.
I’d say tackle markdown first, and then solve the colour challenge once.

In the last month since my previous comment, I’ve taken over ownership of our Notes roadmap and have been hyper-focused on our Text Editor enhancement roadmap more broadly. There are plenty of comments in this thread for me to pull from, but for anyone new to the thread: sharing specific use cases for why this is critical to your workflows would be extremely helpful and timely for me as I weigh priority and tradeoffs between a number of different Text Editor improvements. Enhancing the Text Editor has become a priority for us and as always I appreciate you all’s partnership in helping to define our roadmap!

Please add font color and highlighting options. Would be so helpful in demonstrating importance of key words or phrases in descriptions; would be great for comments, too.

HIghlighting and/or colors would be helpful in many ways:
Sometimes I am stuck with a conversation that happened over email, where original questions were in black, then responses in red, then more responses in blue, etc. It is impossible to copy these conversations over to Asana. Yes, if the conversation had taken place in Asana in the first place, you could see who was commenting, but sometimes you don’t have control over that or it is a conversation between peopel outside of Asana. This is the biggest area that it would help us right now.
We use Asana to approve all of our social media content. Our content coordinator loads each post as a task with the post copy in the description. There are times that I want to suggest new copy or make a small edit to her copy, and I would like to comment in red so it is visible, or use a highlighter to just select a portion of the copy to let her know what I changed.
Sometimes I need to change or add something to the description of a task. For example, if the ad size changed. I would like to add that change in red or highlight it and then add a comment to please look at the important red or highlighted changes in the description. Right now I have to make that edit without any color, make it bold, and then also add a comment and hope people see the comment and find the change in bold. Color would make it a lot more foolproof so people don’t miss it.

We’ve been using Asana for maybe a couple years. I was shocked when I tried to highlight a portion of my comment in yellow (I wanted to highlight in yellow a total amount of something so anyone reading it could immediately see that number if that’s all they needed).
I thought it surely must be user error and that I just wasn’t seeing where/how to highlight text. But when I searched online all I found were tons of these comments asking for it, going back several years.
So to answer your question: I sometimes need to highlight in yellow specific things in my longer comments/descriptions for team members to easily see small bits of info quickly. Bold, underline, and italics just don’t stand out as much and are sometimes already used in text for other reasons.
Hoping this feature is added sooner than later.

Was literally just going through another case where I was providing notes on email copy for a staffer, and decided to check back in on this. It’s wonderful to know this is in development!
As far as use cases, I largely want to echo what @Jordan_Watkins said, and repeat my comment in this thread. For me it’s helpful if I’m providing feedback on copy if I can use tools aside from bold, italics, and underlines to indicate my changes, as those stylings may appear in original copy, so using them to indicate edits can lead to confusion. For instance, if I can clearly note: “My edits are noted in {color} below” it is so much more clear for the recipient to know what changes are being noted.
That said, I also agree with @Jan-Rienk’s request for more comprehensive markdown support as part of the overall improvement, vs a piecemeal approach to text editor functionality.
EDIT: And as an add-on here, I’d like to see better formatting options in “long text answer” entry fields on forms—if these improvements can be implemented there as well, that would also make me very happy. 
It would be really helpful if Asana allowed users to highlight text or change text color directly in task descriptions.
