Add a project within a project timeline

Often when I visualize project tasks in timeline I find myself wanting to add other projects within that timeline. My workaround is of course to just ad a task and then textlink in the description. But wouldn’t it be nice to be able to ad a project right into the timeline instead? The benefit as I see it would be to eliminate static links and project dates would sync if they change. I suppose the same feature should work in List and Boards as well!

Your answer would most certainly be to use Portfolios, but then I would ask you to add the possibility to ad separate tasks in those instead.

To ad projects within a project timeline could be a premium feature as it of course wold make it possible to use a project as a portfolio - but that is not my intention.

I am not sure I understand your idea. You want to add a project, in a task timeline? You want to see the entire project, using its start date and end date, amongst other tasks? Or you want to add this other project’s tasks?

Imagine an activyty plan with tasks that represent different kinds of activities, content and events. Some tasks are small with or without subtasks, but some are so comprehensive that you need to create a separate project. In those cases, it would be nice if you could to ad a project in the same way you ad a task to a project. And it would link over to the other project in some way.

Hi @JohanW, thanks for providing this feedback!

While this feature isn’t available right now, hopefully it’s something our Product team can implement in the future.

I’ll keep you posted and let you know if we have any updates

I’m very interested in this as we’re now managing different workstreams. Are there any updates to this feature? If not, are there any other suggestions besides linking to another project within the task? Would love any advice or share best practices.
