Ability to write private (notes to self) comments on a task

I sometimes like to write small details about tasks that are not relevant to other collaborators.

Great suggestion @Kim_Theriault. I have the same need.
One way of doing this is to do this following workaround:

  1. Create a private Project called ā€œNotesā€
  2. Add a custom field (text) called ā€œmy noteā€ but do not add it to the company library
  3. If you want to add a private note to a task. add the task to your ā€œNotesā€ project and the new custom field will appear. According to me only you will see this custom field.

I saw this feature on another app(Fellow) where we have talking points for each meeting and next to those topics/tasks is an option to have a private note which only you can see.
I think this would be amazon to have on each task, just to write something down that I donā€™t want to comment but want to remember about the specific task

Sometimes I make ā€œprivateā€ notes into a comment field and leave them there without sending them :slight_smile: They preserve there - I think forever (not guaranteed) :smiley: Itā€™s not exactly what youā€™re looking, but kind of a workaround and can help.

Is there any update on this? This would basically be a huge game changer for my company, we could keep talks about specific problems in a central repository without revealing information to the client that they shouldnā€™t have access to or is not relevant to them, like specific code / technical discussions.

Same here! We are holding back because we cannot write comments to each other within the team without the client seeing everything. Filtering ourselves and trying to work around things would defeat the purpose of implementing a solution like Asana, which is to help improve our productivity.

Can there be an option where comments be restricted to team membersā€™ views please?
This seems to be a no-brainer for an agency-client use case ā€” I am surprised many of the project management softwares that I am evaluating donā€™t seem to offer this.

Hi @Josh_Roman We donā€™t have any update on this feature yet. However, we will for sure make a comment here once the product team considers it for future release!

Not quit sure if I managed this correctly. I do now have a custom field in my private project. But how can I manage to see those notes in a project/task visable to others? How can I connect my private comments to my tasks/projects shares with others?

It seems I managed it somehow.
I created a link to my private notes project within my tasks/project visable to others.
