Ability to take a snapshot of the timeline to establish a baseline of the project

Baselines are a crucial basic project management need - any updates?

Updates please

I have two work arounds that my clients have used - you can duplicate the project itself and called it ‘PROJECT A BASELINE’ add this and the actual project to a portfolio to see the start and end dates of both mapped against each other and also the milestones.

Or I have had clients create a baseline section within in the project itself, where they have added duplicates of all tasks in that one section and then they can view it in the same project.

Not the cleanest of ideas but might help

Unfortunately no I’ve tried both of those option previously and that’s not a viable solution.

Baselines should be time associations (both actual dates and number of days) at the task/subtask level and should have some sort of overlay function where you can see baselines mapped in the timeline view, reports that show task X baseline vs task Y actual, section X baseline vs section Y actual, etc, and show a task/subtask numerical deviation (+/- Z days from baseline).

update? update? update? baseline capability on the horizon?

I have a workaround, but it would me much easier if there was an option to “baseline” a project and then have the ability to view current forecast or actual completion date against that baseline…

Hi @marc_horstman are you using the date custom field to have a baseline date now? Won’t show on timeline but you can use the formula custom field to calculate difference/

4 years later… need this feature…

Hi everyone, I’m excited to announce we are rolling out a new Gantt view for all our Premium, Business and Enterprise customers!

With Gantt view you can monitor how a project deviates (or not) over time by comparing against a baseline. You can find the steps in this article.
