Ability to set recurrence date separate from due date

I like to set annual reminders for items that I am responsible for ensuring has been completed, but I do not complete the task. The person responsible for the task tracks their tasks using different software (e.g. Ensure Annual Racking Inspection completed).

I want this to populate on say the 8th August every year, but when the reminder comes in my list, I may need to chase it multiple times until completion. So if I change the due date, once completed the auto recurrence will set for the last due date of the task, not when the inspection is actually due.

I think what you want to do is probably the same concept.
I wonder if it will be helpful.
The way I do it is to first create the original task, setting it to repeat every year. Then I create a follow-up task, and set this as a repeating task as well.
