It isn’t currently possible to check the status of an open ticket. Asana very recently rolled out a new help and support system that will include the ability to check on ticket status, but it had some implementation issues and is not functional yet (that’s the cycling you saw). For the moment, really the only thing you might do is fill out the support form here:
I’m not sure how useful that will be, if at all, for an existing ticket.
FYI Asana has said their support is pretty backed up at the moment (esp with the rollout issue) and I think it’s taking several days to a week for them to reply to a ticket.
