Zapier Integration to create subtasks

Hi!

I’m trying to create subtasks for all new tasks added to a project. The workflow looks fine until Zapier asks that I enter a Parent Task for the subtasks to be created on. This isn’t possible as the task hasn’t been created yet. Can someone point me in the right direction for this?

Thanks!

i have the same problem. I tried to add FIND step in between
but i keep getting Parent not found (if i choose the Asana task ID to be parent) or task: not long error (if you choose the search keyword to be parent)

Hi @marcus.whitaker and @anon68591896,

FYI this capability is available in my Flowsana integration. via the Add subtasks from a template rule action - you might want to check that out.

Hi, I have the same issue. Can someone from Asana please reply to help? Thank you

I found a solution:

  1. add “create a subtask” asana step
  2. when it ask you to specify the parent task, click “custom” and scroll down to click “add search step”
  3. it will then create a step above called “find task in project (legacy)”
  4. specify your parent task
  5. reference that parent task in the step beneath that
  6. profit!

It would be AMAZING to connect Zaps with task templates…just saying
