Create subtasks with a task using zapier

Hey all!

I am using zapier to create new tasks in asana but each time a new task is created I would like it to have my subtasks within it.

Does anyone know if this is possible?

Hi @Derek_De_Betta, are the subtasks the same each time? If so, you could use rules to add the subtasks when the task is added to the project or section.

They are the same each time. I’ll try rules out, never used that before but not sure if I can with my level of asana

looks like you can only create a rule to do this in advanced asana

Hi @Derek_De_Betta , I expect you would have to place a delay after your (parent) task is created, followed by a ‘find task by ID’, followed by several ‘create task’ actions, each one setting the parent GID to the task you initially created.

Hi @Derek_De_Betta , as I mentioned you will need to add a delay.
Between step 2 & 3, add a native Zapier ‘Delay’ action (set to 1min) because it needs time to create the task, before finding it immediately right after in step 3 - that’s why it’s failing to find anything.

You should also upgrade the 'Find Task in Project (Legacy) to the latest Find task…
