Briefly describe (1-2 sentences) the Bug you’re experiencing:
When attempting to update the icon for a developer app, I only get an error message:
“Your upload was not a usable image. Choose a PNG, JPEG, or GIF that’s under 5MB and try again.”
I’ve tried this with a variety of images, including some I have used in the past and none have been accepted.
Steps to reproduce:
Browser version:
Chrome Version 74.0.3729.169 (Official Build) (64-bit)

Hey @Kothar, sorry to hear you’re having this issue. We will look into it and get back to you. Could you attach the exact file you’re having issues with? That will help us repo it.
Yep, I’ve just checked and this png fails:

It’s only 70x70 pixels, but I’ve also tried other images and larger versions of this image with no success.
For example, the same image resampled to 120x120 pixels gives the same error:

As does this logo which I have used in the past and is already assigned to an existing developer app:

Same for me with this image. PNG, 8Ko, 128x128px

Thank you for providing the additional details, @Kothar. Our API team is investigating. I will let you know what we find out.
@Kothar, this is definitely a bug and we are not yet certain what’s causing it. Sorry for the frustration and inconvenience. The good news is that we are just about to role out a new version of the developer console (that doesn’t have this bug). You should be using the new console next week.

Thanks Jeff, I’ll give it another go next week!
Hey @Kothar, our API team fixed the bug ahead of the new console release. It should work for you now. Can you confirm? Sorry again for the issue.

Yep! That works fine now, thanks for looking into it.
Also worked for me, thanks.
I am having the same issue. Chrome and Mac and no image of any size or format is accepted as an avatar. “Your upload was not a usable image. Choose a PNG, JPEG, or GIF that’s under 5MB and try again.” None that I tried have been above 5MB.

I’m having this issue too. I tried to upload a new image into my profile picture and the process failed. I also tried to upload the previous image and the error happens for it as well.

Still and issue on Chrome - 21/09/2021.
Looks like this is still an issue in 2022 - Mac Chrome user. Nothing works. I’m not even trying to upload an icon or a logo, just clear, regular jpeg images. None of them work, both compressed and uncompressed, all around ~200kb - definitely some kind of bug.
Can you share a link to the file here so we can try?
I am now getting this issue too, on both the Mac desktop app (Asana app version: 2.1.4
System: darwin 14.4.1 (arm64)) and the chrome web version. Have tried with multiple images.
Was there ever a fix for this?
Facing the same Issue, not able to upload Profile Picture.
Getting the error message: “Your upload was not a usable image. Choose a PNG, JPEG, or GIF that’s under 5MB and try again.”
Facing the same issue as well - have been trying since yesterday to upload a photo and I get the same error. Tried different file types, different sizes, nothing works.
I have tried with Google Chrome, Safari and also the mac app and the iphone app - all get the same error, expect with the iPhone app that I get an error that says: unable to sync - a sync error occured while changing your profile photo.
Any ideas?
I have the same issue. File type and size is within criteria, but doesn’t want to upload through web (chrome) or app.
