We have a custom field “Release” that is used across multiple projects. We would like to have a list view where we can see all tasks where this custom field is present and in this view have the tasks separated by sections based on the text string in the “Release” field.
I know that we can see all tasks with this field by using search, but it has it all together and not split into sections based on the “Release” field. Could also achieve this by having a single ‘tracking’ project where we can setup the view to be split by the custom field, but this is very cumbersome. Looking for something more lightweight. Even if its moving away from the custom field approach?
Thank you!
Welcome to the forum, @Amberly_Rowles-Lawso! Could you explain your setup a bit more? Is this release field a text, number, single-select, etc.? Because searches can’t be sorted by field values, this does sound like a good use case for an aggregator project (it can be pretty lightweight with rules).
The release field is text.
Was hoping to avoid aggregator project as this would be across all our projects some short and long lived and seems like a lot of overhead. But since searches can’t be sorted by field values seems like would be our only option?
I think that’s the only in-platform route. You could explore exporting a search to csv (or syncing to Google), but depending on what you’re trying to do, that might not be helpful.
