Why is my project still showing in both teams after removing it from one team?

I am also having this issue! I am trying to move a project to another team and so I follow these instructions: Open a project > edit settings > dropdown to change team.
However, it simply shows the project in both teams instead of actually moving it to the other team.
Can you please assist?!

@Marie_Poutakidis - welcome to the forum! I think this is a separate issue from the OP. For what youā€™re reporting, I think this stems from a recent update that allows projects to be shared with multiple teams:

What is your desired outcome? Is your project currently public to your organization? If you just want to ā€œmoveā€ it from one team to another, you can go into the share settings (blue button near the top right where you see the project membersā€™ avatars) and add the new team and remove the old team.

Hi Stephen!

The share option has worked for some projects, however there are others where I have removed the team yet it is still showing within both teams! Can you please assist?

Thanks !

Iā€™ve moved these posts into this new topic; they werenā€™t relevant to the original topic.

Thanks,

Larry

Hi Stephen,

I am attempting to move a project from one team to a completely different team.

I have tried using the sharing settings as you advised, and then removing the unwanted team but the project is still showing in both teams. Please help!

Thanks,
Marie

@Marie_Poutakidis,

Please use this topic, not the other one (I moved your post here from there). Iā€™m sure Stephen will answer when he sees your reply.

Thanks,

Larry

Thanks, @lpb!

@Marie_Poutakidis - just to clarify, when you say:

You are referring to the project showing up on the project list of the team page, right? If so, have you also moved the project to the desired team using the down-carat next to project name > edit project deetails > Select a team?

It appears that the project will appear in the team page of that ā€œhomeā€ team plus any teams it is shared with. I do believe this is a little confusing and makes that ā€œhomeā€ team of questionable value.

I am having the same issue. I try to move a project from one team to another and now it appears in both. This is not the outcome I was hoping for. Any updates to fix this?

@Annie_Lindekugel, I think the posts in this thread, and what they link to, answer your question and explain whatā€™s going on after Asanaā€™s change in this regard.

Thanks,

Larry

This threw me for a loop too. Now, when you ā€œchangeā€ the team in the ā€œSelect a teamā€, it not only shares it with that new team, but it also remains shared with the original team, which you can see in the ā€œShareā€ area. If you want to remove the original team, then you now also have to go to the ā€œShareā€ area and remove the original team from that Members list.
