Hi everyone,
I’m trying to do something a bit complex with AI Status Reports and I’m not sure if it’s currently possible.
Setup:
-
I have a dedicated Asana Project for high-level reporting to ELT of Transformation activities (about 80 total, 30 active).
-
These tasks are tagged with a custom field
Reporting = Transformation. -
Some of these activities are tracked/updated in other boards, so I’ve also added related tasks into the reporting board and tagged them as
Reporting = Supporting Task. -
Each Supporting Task has an automated comment linking it to the relevant Transformation (Primary) task, so hypothetically an AI can understand to add activity progress from supporting tasks under the Transformation task headers.
What I need:
-
A report that only lists active Transformation tasks as headers.
-
For each Transformation, the AI should generate progress commentary underneath.
-
Supporting Tasks should not appear as headers, but their updates should be pulled into the commentary of the related Transformation task (based on the linking comment).
The problem:
Even when I explicitly prompt the AI to list only Transformation tasks, it still promotes Supporting Tasks as headers. This makes the report unnecessarily long and confusing, and not what ELT is seeking.
If I just remove them Supporting Tasks from this boards, I lose those updates happening in other boards, and I don’t want to create double work for team leads who already provide updates elsewhere.
Question:
Is there a way to prompt AI Status Reports to respect the Reporting = Transformation field for headers, while still using Supporting Tasks only as commentary under those primary headers? Or is this a current limitation of AI reporting?
Thanks in advance!
