Smart Chat - Number of sources analyzed

Hello,

When I make a request in the AI chat in Asana, I have the impression that the analyzed data contains only 150 sources.

Is this the case? If so, how can I better target the data sources that will be analyzed, or have it analyze all of my tasks?

Example:
I ask the chat to give me a list of projects delivered in October 2024. The message displayed in the chat mentions an analysis of 150 tasks.

Hi Adrien

Indeed, there is definitely a limit in the “number of sources” with Asana AI features (as any other AI tool out there). The AI models Asana relies on (Open AI / Anthropic, models) have limit in the size of the context.

For example, when you create a portfolio Smart Status update (update with AI), I noticed can take up to 20 or 25 projects.

But as far as I know, those exact limits are not publicly shared by Asana at the moment.
The 150 tasks could be the real limit of just a coincidence based on the underlying data.

I also know that because the LLM models get smarter every year (or month), this limit will probably grow.

:bulb: Random ideas
It could also be that your question is not valid, as Smart chat is particularly useful to help with tasks, I’m not sure about listing projects.
To obtain a list of projects delivered in October 2024, a report might be a more consistent tool.
Also, the definition of “project delivered” might not be clear for AI (it is also not completely clear for me ).
Or you could try to ask different questions to reduce the scope. Maybe if you mention a portfolio in your prompt, that is supposed to contain those projects.

Please let us know if you make progress, we are all learning from each other at that stage

I don’t work for Asana, I’m just a user

Do we keep this topic in the AI Studio ?
I think it’s AI related but not AI Studio.
Do we have a category for such questions?

Hi @Arthur_BEGOU, we don’t have another category specific for general Asana AI. I think we can move this topic to our Tips & Tricks category instead.

It might be the amount of sources varies depending on how much information is contained in these sources. As in, more information would mean less sources. But that might be AI studio specific.
