is there anyway to create milestones and then have tasks be “sub-tasks” of the milestone itself?
It’s hard linking tasks to specific milestones. Unless others have ideas or suggestions. I’d like to make it a bit more organized so tasks are associated with a specific milestone.

I would advise against that approach, leaning towards subtasks is usually not the best idea, because they have tons of limitations.
Did you consider having the milestone dependent on the tasks that come before? In your case that means putting the milestone after the tasks that lead to the milestone.
Okay that actually works great the way you suggested. It also shows up nicely on the timeline.
