One feature I’ve started using more is Asana’s dedicated projects for recurring 1:1 meetings between two people. I really like the simplicity, but I also feel there’s an opportunity to make these projects much more valuable, especially for manager-employee conversations.
Today, the 1:1 project mainly acts as a shared space for discussion topics. What I’d love to see is something closer to a lightweight dashboard that brings together the most important information for ongoing coaching and follow-up.
For example:
- Employee goals and progress
- Key projects and responsibilities
- Recent accomplishments
- Open action items from previous 1:1s
- Upcoming milestones or deadlines
- Workload indicators
Having goals visible directly within the 1:1 space would be especially valuable. In my experience, goals are often defined with good intentions but become harder to keep top of mind in everyday conversations. If they were surfaced automatically in the 1:1 project, both manager and employee would have a natural starting point for follow-up and development discussions.
The beauty of Asana is connecting work to outcomes. Bringing goals, projects and ongoing commitments into the 1:1 experience feels like a natural extension of that philosophy.
Curious to hear how others use the 1:1 projects today and what additional information you would like to see surfaced there.
