"Today" button in Start / Due Date

I use the Gantt chart functionality for project management and sometimes I add tasks that either I am working on (and therefore start today) or need to be finished immediately.

At the moment selecting the date opens the calendar and I have to select today from there, when it seems to at random choose what month it wants to show me. It would be good (like MS Project) to just have a button at the bottom of the calendar that will select today’s date.

Hi Asana Community,

Context:
This request is based on feedback from an Asana user within my organisation. The user highlighted a usability issue when interacting with custom date fields, particularly when updating dates that were previously set in the past.

Issue:
Currently, if a date in the past is selected in a custom date field, and the user wants to change it to today’s date, they must manually navigate through the calendar. The date picker does not include a shortcut to jump directly to the current date.

Proposed Solution:
Introduce a “Today” or “Current Date” button within the date picker interface. This button would instantly bring the calendar view to today’s date, allowing users to quickly select it.

Example Use Case:
A team member is updating a task’s custom date field that was originally set to a date in 2023. Instead of clicking and scrolling to reach August 2025, they could simply click the “Today” button and select the current date with one additional click.

Best regards
Jakob

I agree. (Please vote too!)
I usually clear the date with an ✗

and then click the date again to make it today.

I hope this becomes a reality.

When rescheduling an overdue task, you can sometimes get very lost in an old month.

Would be great if at the bottom of the mini calendar next to time & recurrence, there was a TODAY button, which will automatically move the calendar up to today’s date.

Agreed!
