Today automation stopped working - Asana wants me to Upgrade?

Great to hear, @Jimmyss!

You’re correct, but if you wanted, you could temporarily change one of the rules to something like this:

Because rules with times like that will when needed, not just once at midnight. Just remember to reset back to days for real!

(I’ll let @Jan-Rienk respond to the parts you addressed to him.)

Thanks,

Larry

Ipb - ill give that custom time a try. I did previously look at this but didnt realise i could do that.

Its now the day after i setup the rules, after midnight, and i assumed they would work.
They were all setup the same way, but only one of of the 1 of the 5 i setup worked and i cant figure out why? Ill see if i can post screen shots.
They were all setup the same.

The one setup to move tasks due today into section Today didnt run, but the one setup to move tasks due tomorrow to sextion Tomorrow did run and did work?
I have 7 tasks due today which appear in my Inbox, but the rule didnt work.

Hi all

I have the same problem. In our team all rules in myTasks stopped working and were greyed out (you need asana starter). We then created new rules

And they worked on friday but this morning

  • both rules were active again
  • but both rules did not run

very annoying. And we were not informed in any way about changes happing! I really hope that this get’s resolved soon!

In my environment, the rules for My Tasks are as follows.

Shall the rules, then, be set in motion?

Ten minutes ago, I set the rules and tested them; they executed smoothly, and the tasks moved to different sections.

Just to be sure, if you open the rule settings in your project, they will look like this.

Adding new rules seems to be working for me. Thank you.

@Jimmyss and @Sylvan,

Sorry to hear that. I saw a similar report to yours from another user in Slack.

@Forum-team, looking forward to hearing the definitive word from you on what’s working and what isn’t, and also why this was done with apparently no advance notice.

Thanks,

Larry

Hi everyone - this should be fixed now.

FYI I checked with @TiffanyOda and the fix should apply to both of the issues mentioned in this thread:

  • people on Free accounts reporting that their My Tasks rules have stopped working

and

  • people reporting that their v1 rules have stopped working

Looks like ill have to wait till after midnight to be sure.
I will give that timed version a try though and report back

some of mine worked, some didnt.
two of my old v1 rules worked, and run last night at midnight. these were to sort tasks due today, and tasks due in 1 day. the other v1 rules for tasks due in 3 days and 7 days didnt run.

my v2 rules did not run.
they are duplicates of v1 rules, and so if it only runs one and not the other this could be the reason?
tasks due today did not run and has not run yet.
tasks due in 1 day didnt run last night, but did the day before.
tasks due in 3 days and 7 days have not run yet.

so my Today section was populated today using the original v1 rule, my Tomorrow seciton populated with the original v1 rule, but the remainder v1 rules, and the new v2 rules did not run.

@Jimmyss,

Since others are reporting success, perhaps consider pausing all your v1 rules, making sure you have active v2 versions of each, then checking results in the days ahead. If a problem remains, contact Support. Just a suggestion…

Thanks,

Larry

i paused all v1 rules, and left all v2 rules active.
last night all my new v2 rules run as they should, and all now looks to be working.

IPB, can this only be used to move tasks due Today to a section of my choice?

If i set this up,
Due date is approaching,
Custom
10 minutes,

It then defaults to - due date is approaching 10 minutes before.

Can i only use this to set the automation for Tasks ive set as due Today to then be moved to a section, and for it to run now rather than wait until midnight?

Is there anything else i can use this for or could you maybe give me another example using custom times?

many thanks for your help.

@Jimmyss,

This is just another possibility for the “When” box in the rules editor.

You can pair it with any other “Do this” action or actions to occur when triggered.

For example, ten minutes before a meeting you could @mention attendees in a comment which will generate notifications to them.

Hope that answers your question,

Larry

Thats great thanks for all the help
