Timesheet reports

I have the (new-ish) Timesheets and Budgets add-on module (advanced level). It’s nice to have project budget and hours on the project now.

I’d like to run a simple timesheet report to see who has worked # of hours, within a time period (e.g., last week) on what projects. This should be simple, but the AI support was no help. Essentially a timecard report by assignee by time period, across projects.

There’s no way of seeing a timecard by assignee (timecard name) across projects. You can ‘kinda’ create a chart, but it’s not exportable.

At best, I would have to go to EACH project and export hours out to an excel, do filters by “Time logged by name” and date range. Ugh.

We purchased this add-on to replace Harvest and a report like this should be simple. Any suggestions? I hate to cancel our contract because Asana can’t report on data like this.

Ideas?

I’ll keep this concise and honest. I get the frustration here — a simple timecard across projects by person and date range should be easy.

What you can do today

  1. Reporting dashboard: you can get close in Reporting by creating a dashboard scoped to all projects or a portfolio, then add a table chart with:

  2. Metric: Sum of Time tracked

  3. Group by: Assignee, then Project

  4. Date filter: Last week

This gives you a quick view for hours by person per project over a time window. It’s handy for weekly check‑ins, but you’re right — dashboard charts aren’t exportable yet.

Export options right now

  1. Project CSV: exporting time entries is still project by project. If you need a true cross‑project CSV, the quickest path today is either:

  2. Build the dashboard for visibility, then only export per‑project CSVs when you need the raw data, or

  3. Use the API to pull time entries across projects into one sheet. It’s a bit technical, but it avoids the per‑project export loop.

I’ve shared this feedback with our team because a cross‑project timesheet export by assignee and time range is a very common need. If you have a minute, adding your use case here helps us prioritize: https://forum.asana.com/c/forum-en/product-feedback/20

Asana support sent me a note that on Wednesday, Feb 18, 2026, they updated the product so that you can go to Timesheets, and click on the Drop-down arrow to the right, and you can “Export Everyone’s time entries CSV” now. So for now - it’s going to be a mass export, and a lot of pivot tables in Excel to see the data I need across timecard entries, projects, billable/non-billable, etc. It’s a decent workaround for now.

@Joe_Meehan if an add-on is an option, you can use the Analytics & Reports add-on by Screenful to report hours logged to the Actual time field across projects. The reports created with Screenful will reflect the time tracked in the month/week/day in which it was tracked. The reports can be automatically scheduled via email or Slack.

You can learn more about time tracking reports for Asana from this guide, and here’s the getting started guide for a free trial.

This is good but the issue I’m having with that export is that it doesn’t carry any of the custom fields over, which I need for charging back to various departments based on projects, commission split, etc.
