I am brand new to Asana and have a project with one Work step and one task. I am able to mark the one task as Complete but I cannot mark the Work or project as Complete, the option does not appear on the drop down list, please see the attached screen grab. What am I doing wrong?
Hi @Tom_Beaulieu , it could be that you are not the Project Owner or Project Admin.
In your project, click on the blue share button and check what your permissions levels are. If you are not a Project Admin, ask them to either make you also a Project Admin.
If that doesn’t work, then, in the Project’s action menu (dropdown arrow on the right of the project’s name) choose Edit project details and set the Owner to yourself.
That should allow you to set ‘Complete’ for the status of the project.
I had no idea this was not available for everyone. @Arthur_BEGOU @Julien_RENAUD @Kelsea_Lopez did you know?
Actually, I take back my comment above, I think I jumped to conclusions!
Having done some tests it seems that even an Editor (even if they are Guests) can also complete the project.
So I’m not sure why you are seeing this, @Tom_Beaulieu. It would be good to know your project permissions and who is the project owner, anyway.
@Forum-team , could you please help?
The project I was trying to mark complete was accidently set up as a portfolio. I created a duplicate instance of the project but this time used the Create New Project option instead of the Create New Portfolio Option. I was able to delete the Portfolio instance and mark the Project instance as complete.
I am brand new to ASANA and based on the above, it appears I can mark projects within a portfolio as complete but I cannot mark the portfolio as complete. For the time being, I am going to use the Create New Project option for all of my tasks until I have a better understanding of how to use Portfolios.
Thanks to everyone who chimed in.
Ah of course, a Portfolio cannot be completed!
Thanks for getting back to us, @Tom_Beaulieu
