Hi, I’m using Asana to schedule my accounting department’s monthly cycle. It’s the same tasks every month, so I expect to create a new project monthly from the first month’s template (not sure if there’s a better way). The thing is, when I create a project from template, the tasks and relative timing are copied to the new month, but in timeline view the tasks are no longer organized on rows per the original template. So if Task 1 Prelim and Task 1 Final are on the top row, one week apart, then in the new project they are on separate rows. Also I group each employee’s tasks in adjacent rows, but that grouping is apparently not preserved. The visual organization in timeline view is useful. Is there a way to preserve timeline ordering in a template? Manually rearranging them monthly is not a huge burden but seems unnecessary given it’s a template. Thank you
Hi @anon48731418, welcome to the Asana Community Forum! Could you check if you are currently sorting your Timeline? When you create a new project from the template, it won’t keep the same sorting, you would need to sort your tasks manually. Apologies for any inconvenience!
Will it be possible in the future to sort by start date, but within the sections? When I change to just sort by the start date, it doesn’t help me keep similar work together. @Emily_Roman
Hi @anon31206953, this is currently not possible in Timeline but we are launching a new view soon that will hopefully allow you to achieve this. Stay tune for update in our News category!
