Task Preview Screen is very annoying, useless and potentially harms productivity

Whenever I click “View Task” button from an email notification, I am navigated to this task preview page:

This page appears to be a “preview” of the task without any of the important information. It is a useless screen. Someone could easily get confused using it, thinking that it’s all the info for the task, when in fact there could be dozens of comment updates not shown.

Overall, the screen is incredibly annoying because I have to click out of it every time I get an email, several times every hour of every workday and I’ve never once found any value in this screen because I don’t want to miss any important comments that aren’t even shown. I always minimize it immediately. I’d be shocked if a single user on your platform gets any value from it. It serves no purpose. All it does is “simplify” the task info by removing all the updates. Outside of just being annoying, I’m 100% sure this feature actually causes more harm than good.

I’m tired of clicking the minimize button 100 times every day for no valid reason.

Welcome, @Ryan_Keller1,

This view is called Full screen mode. Note that it has three different layouts:

Both of the other two options (Wide and Narrow), instead of the Description view in your screenshot, will show you the entire Task detail pane, including everything you’re missing.

The next time you’re in full screen mode, just click one of those two choices; Asana will remember that as your default choice for all future arrivals in full screen mode. Do that once and your problem will go away.

If you’re still dissatisfied even with the above behavior, please add a new English Forum > Product Feedback request titled with the specific change you’d like to see and explaining why.

Thanks,

Larry
