TASK PLACEHOLDERS

How can I set placeholders for set work that will be coming on a monthly basis? How can I set a sum function on the workload planner so that I can see total future capacity left over rather than just per person.

@Holly_Wyncoll This is a bit of a workaround.

One way to do this is to create a role custom field then you can setup a in a dashboard that shows upcoming work for that role. For this to work, the tasks would have to be created with estimates included.

Not sure if there is a way to do this for recurring tasks (since they haven’t been created yet).

Hi @Holly_Wyncoll , I’m not clear what you mean by the Workload planner - is that the Workload feature within a Portfolio or the universal one within the Reporting page?

@Ron_Sanga 's workaround is great but in case you are on Enterprise, you could use the Capacity Plan feature to allocate time or percentages to people in Asana or create placholders and assign them to upcoming projects.

Thank you both!

On the capacity plan feature, am I able to name the placeholders rather than assign to a specific project? Where does the placeholder go in the project view and my tasks view or does it not show in here so users can also see the placeholder?

Hi @Holly_Wyncoll, the capacity plan feature is disconnected to tasks. Placeholders do not show up in the project’s list view, but are allocated to projects as a whole, in the capacity plan.

Happy to provide you with a quick demo. DM me if you’re interested (click on my profile and then message)
