Hi – When I group my ‘My tasks’ by project all subtasks in a project end up in ‘no project’. I see there was something about this a few years ago – and that I can see the project that it is in, but it would be helpful/much better if those subtasks actually fell into the project to which their associated.
Am I missing something?
Thanks!
Hi,
You are not missing anything, at the moment this is working as expected. Subtasks display a project in My Tasks, this was introduced a few weeks ago, but the grouping wasn’t part of the update and we don’t know if it will
Subtasks don’t belong to a project when they are created.
That’s why they are grouped under No Project, right?
Subtasks that have been assigned to a project will appear in the project they are assigned to.
That’s right
So if you create a subtask within a project it is not ‘assigned’ to that project? I’d really like to have my subtasks show up in the associated project in my tasks, but don’t necessarily want them to show up duplicate in the project. Any thoughts on how I might do this?
They already do show like this, but not when you group by projects. My personal opinion is that grouping My Tasks by projects is not really the best way to use My Tasks. Instead use custom sections, for example Today-Soon-Later, and then triage your tasks into the right bucket.
If you do want to use the group by project, you don’t have a choice, you need to make the subtask belong to the project, but that creates a whole lot of others problems (subtasks will show up as tasks in the project)
