Slack integration – task search fails on first attempt when adding a comment via "Add as task comment"

Description:

When using the Slack-to-Asana integration (Apps > Add as task comment), the task search field fails on the first search attempt every time. No results are returned regardless of the query. If I then add or remove a single character from the search string, the search runs successfully and returns the expected results.

Steps to reproduce:

  1. In Slack, select a message and choose Apps > Asana > Add as task comment.
  2. In the task search field, type the name of an existing task.
  3. The search returns no results.
  4. Without clearing the field, add or remove a single character.
  5. The search now completes successfully and returns the correct task(s).

This is 100% reproducible. It happens every time the dialog is opened, regardless of which task is being searched for.

This appears to be the same condition previously reported for the project name autocomplete in the /asana create dialog (forum thread: Slack integration fails to autocomplete projects in /asana create dialog ). That thread was locked without a response, and the project search issue appears to have since been resolved. The behaviour is now occurring in the task search field within the Add as task comment flow instead.

Environment: Slack desktop (Windows), latest version. Asana Business tier. Issue persists after disconnecting and reconnecting the integration.

Experiencing this same bug, and also seeing the same behavior in the search when using the /asana link command. I’m on Slack desktop on Mac (v4.46.104) with the Asana Starter plan.
